Implementation structures for the African Agenda 2063 exist at different levels such as:
- African Union Commission (AUC): The AUC is responsible for providing overall coordination, guidance, and support for the implementation of the Agenda 2063. It provides technical assistance to member states, mobilizes resources, and monitors the implementation of the agenda.
- Regional Economic Communities (RECs): The RECs are responsible for implementing the agenda at the regional level. They provide technical assistance, coordinate regional integration initiatives, and mobilize resources for the implementation of the agenda.
- National Implementation Mechanisms: Each African country is expected to establish a national implementation mechanism to coordinate the implementation of the Agenda 2063 at the national level. This mechanism may involve the establishment of national planning commissions, inter-ministerial committees, or other appropriate structures.
- Partnership Frameworks: Partnerships with international organizations, development partners, and the private sector are critical for the successful implementation of the Agenda 2063. The African Union has established partnership frameworks to facilitate collaboration and mobilization of resources from these stakeholders.
- Civil Society Organizations: Civil society organizations play a critical role in the implementation of the Agenda 2063. They provide advocacy, monitoring, and evaluation support to ensure that the agenda’s implementation aligns with the needs and aspirations of the African people.
