Dr. James Martin Arumus Chairman

Dr. James Martin Arumus is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of VisionAfric Development. He was born in Uganda but left for Italy at the age of 19 years for his University Education.

His achievements in his Uversity education include Fist Class Doctorate 110/110 Cum

Laude in Economics and Commerce from the University of Bologna in Italy. His reserch and Doctoral Thesis was on Economic Integration among African States; University of Bologna 1976 for which he was awarded the highest Honours.

He later obtained another First Class Post Doctoral Specialization, a Masters degree in Corporate Finance and Investment from the University of Padua in Italy. Incidentally Bologna University and Padua University are the two oldest in Europe and arguably the best in Italy as well.

Dr. Arumus also went to another leading Italian University to wrap up his economic professionalism ambition when in 1982 he pulled out another First Class Honours Post Doctoral Diploma in International Trade and Investment from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy.

His professional career started as well in Italy where he worked with the leading bank in Bologna for one year as a finance data analyst. From there, he joined one of the largest Italian Manufacturing and and Engineering Companies located in the Region of Emilia north of Bologna where he held the position of Corporate Advisor to the CEO on Africa. In this position, he was charged with designing the Company’ s Marketing and Investment strategies for the whole of the African Continent. In 1982 he spent 4 months physically visiting 38 countries in Africa to promote the Company. The countries he visited included Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya and Morocco in North Africa. Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast , Nigeria and Cameron in West Africa. DRC, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia and Tanzania in East Africa. Mozambique, Malawi, and Zambia in Southern Africa. From these visits, Dr. Arumus was able to notice the serious problems the Continent had having been in Europe for 12 years by then. He left the Company in 1982 and joined the EEC in Brussels in the ACP section concerned with projects financing and execution in Africa.

He left Europe and came back to Uganda in 1983 and had several job offers both from the Government and the Private Sector. He worked briefly for Madhvani Kakira Sugar Works the largest Manufacturers of sugar in Uganda as a corporate Finance Advisor. He later served as CEO of the largest Government Trading Pararstatal from 1983 to 1987. By the time he left the Company it had become the most important Government Pararstatal regarding International Trade, with properties and branches in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kinshasa.

He joined the Private Sector again and with Chinese partners bought the largest yarn producing company in the country and set up a very vibrant textile company Jinda International Textile Corporation. From 2002 to 2009 the company was the largest yarn producer in Uganda and currently implementing a new growth strategy.

Since 2013 Dr. Arumus has been working full time as a Financial and Investment Consultant. He has undertaken several studies for international organizations including the World Bank, IMF and FAO. He is also now linking some Governments in Africa with World Class Financiers willing to undertake projects like infrastructure, Agriculture Energy and Housing.

Dr. Arumus several awards and honours including a Gold Medal for academic excellence from Cardinal Giacomo Lercaro International College Bologna Italy in 1980.

He is a life member of the International Economic Council Rome, Italy since 1982.
